When it comes to finding the best portable gaming monitors, it’s important to know all the right features to look for if you want the best bang for your buck. The convenience of owning a portable gaming monitor is beyond words, particularly for those on the road a lot. These types of gaming monitors are particularly popular for console gamers, allowing them to experience the same level of convenience that laptop gamers get.
For this article, we’ve selected a handful of popular choices that our team has tested extensively. To ensure everyone can find a good option here, we’ve tried to find both high-end choices & best bang-for-your-buck budget choices. By the end of this, you should have an idea of which portable gaming monitor is for you!
Corprit Portable Monitor
The Corprit Portable Monitor is an amazing portable gaming monitor in 1080p. I’ve actually used this monitor a lot for non-gaming purposes, as it works great as an extended laptop screen on the go.
The Corprit Portable Monitor has multiple connectivity options including USB-C & Mini HDMI. The first thing I remember when I purchased this monitor was how it came with an HDMI to Mini HDMI cable right out of the box. This is going to be incredibly convenient for console players who are used to using a TV or desktop monitor.
With a screen size of 15.6 inches, the 1080p resolution looks astounding. When using smaller portable monitors we get a higher pixel density, which can result in sharper & clearer images. On last-gen consoles like the PS4 or Xbox One, 1080p is the standard resolution, and using a monitor like this one will really make your games pop.
This Full HD portable gaming monitor also offers a headphone jack and dual speakers. Whether you like using a headset (like me) or playing out loud, you’ll have the choice for both. The Corprit Portable Monitor also has a nice leather protective case around it that doubles as a stand!
All in all, this is a great portable gaming monitor for those on the go.
ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHPE
The ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHPE is one of the more high-end options on this list, with a specific focus on perfect picture, large screen & fast refresh rates. If you want something just as big as it is portable, with a high emphasis on quality, this may be the one for you.
The first thing that stands out about the ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHPE is the sleek “borderless” design. As you can see from the image below, this 17.3″ portable gaming monitor is mostly screen with a bar for the logo at the bottom.
Asus is really awesome when it comes to building gaming monitors. You’ll notice we featured them twice, including another model from the Asus ROG Strix line in our article about the best gaming monitor for PS4. The level of detail they put into their monitors is incredible.
The ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHPE boasts a whopping 240Hz refresh rate, which is going to be overkill for last-gen consoles, but really awesome for the new ones. This high refresh rate refers to the speed at which the monitor can update frames, so you can play up to 240FPS (if your device can produce that rate, of course).
Overall, the ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHPE is one of the most high-quality portable gaming monitors on this list that I can highly vouch for.
GAEMS Sentinel Pro Xp
The GAEMS Sentinel Pro is a really interesting portable gaming monitor built for console players. The concept of having a portable gaming monitor is something I wasn’t aware of until the last few years, but if there’s one I wish I had as a kid, it’s this one.
As you can see from the picture below, the GAEMS Sentinel Pro has a built-in tray for your console device. It offers combined portability for not just your monitor but your console as well. When you put your gaming device in the tray, you can then close the screen and carry it like a box. When you’re ready to game, you crack it open and get playing!
You may be worried the screen is too small, but it’s actually 17.3″! The GAEMS Sentinel Pro offers 1080p resolution with an FHD IPS display. As we mentioned earlier, having 1080p resolution on smaller screens like this one will boost your pixel density resulting in sharper images.
The screen features a well-detailed finish with anti-glare protection. The hard shell protective case has tilting capabilities for finding that perfect angle.
Overall, I really like this portable gaming monitor. I was skeptical at first as it’s quite bulky and the images made the screen look small, but I’m really happy with it!
The Lepow Z1-Gamut is one of the more affordable portable gaming monitors on this list, offering Full HD 1080p resolution. This 15.6″ gaming display has the same pro as the Asus ROG Strix, in that it’s mostly screen and very little border. This is essential for me.
The first thing to note is the increased brightness & wide color gamut. What you get are stunning visuals with great contrast and popping colors. The biggest issue I run into with cheaper portable gaming monitors is dull images, but not with this one.
Offering an HDR mode, you can rely on the Lepow Z1-Gamut to give you great uninterrupted performance while you game. The dual speakers are pretty standard quality for monitors in this price range.
I love the screen protecting case, which uses a durable PU leather exterior, keeping your portable gaming monitor safe from dust or damage. It’s very lightweight and easy to travel with, less than 2lb.
Overall the Lepow Z1-Gamut is a great portable gaming monitor for the price.
Azmior Portable Gaming Monitor
The Azmior Portable Monitor stands out as our only 4K HDR resolution portable gaming monitor on this list, which will definitely be appealing for those on next-gen consoles. The other portable gaming monitors on this list were 1080p resolution, so the 4K really makes this one stand out.
The first thing I want to mention is the pixel density, something we mentioned earlier. With double the pixels as the others & coming in at 15.6″, you’re going to have a seriously sharp image with absolute clarity! I can say this with confidence as I bought it to try out.
The Azmior Portable Monitor offers both a dual 2W speaker setup & a headphone jack to meet any of your audio needs. There’s also an energy-saving mode & other detailed display options.
Overall, you’re getting a really solid monitor with a great display. If 4K is what you need, then this is probably the best portable monitor you can get!
Hopefully, by now, you have an idea of which portable gaming monitor is right for you. There are a lot of great options on this list, whether you need something affordable, something high-end, or something that can support 4K resolution. Out of every portable gaming monitor the market has to offer, these 5 are some of the very best.
