If you want the best gaming monitor for PS4, then this list will have all the best options for you, regardless of your situation. As I’m writing this, next-gen consoles have already been released, though slower than one would have anticipated. Because of the performance differences between the PS4 & the PS5, our list will contain great options for those who plan to upgrade someday.

The PS4 limits how many frames it can support, and most good monitors are already built to handle double that. The base model of the PS4 supports up to 1080p resolution, while the pro can go as high as 4K. Our list will cater to both groups of people.

Our objective is to provide the best option for each price range & each situation, so by the end of this, you should have a fantastic gaming monitor for your PS4. We are starting with our favorite (affordable) 4K monitor.

    Table of Contents

    • 1. Asus VP28UQG 4K
    • 2. BenQ EX3203R Curved
    • 3. MSI Optix G27C4 (Curved)
    • 4. ASUS ROG Strix XG27UQ
    • 5. Acer Nitro XV273

    1. Asus VP28UQG 4K

For our top spot as the best gaming monitor for PS4, we’ve listed the Asus VP28UQG 4K monitor. This particular choice will be the best option for those with a “Pro” model or the intention of upgrading to a next-gen console shortly. Why? Base-model PS4s do not support the 4k resolution.

That being said, the Asus VP28UQG is a competent gaming monitor, and for the price point it comes in at, it’s awe-inspiring. Supporting up to 4K/UHD, you’ll get to see stunning visuals with perfect detail and absolute clarity. Gaming in 4K is a significant experience worth investing in.

The amount of control the Asus VP28UQG gives you for changing the game colors is imposing. What’s more, is how simple it is to navigate. Thanks to 5 Way OSD Joystick, you’ll have a lot less trouble making your way through their versatile menu to enhance your gaming experience further.

My favorite feature in many Asus monitors is the Asus Eye Care Technology, which lowers blue light and eliminates flickering; if you didn’t know, blue light not only causes eye strain but can cause permanent damage to your retina.

Overall, I’m a massive fan of the Asus VP28UQG. It’s incredibly affordable for a 4K Gaming Monitor with great features.

    2. BenQ EX3203R Curved

The BenQ EX3203R is one of the higher-end models on this list, but very much so worth the investment if you plan to upgrade to next-gen anytime soon. This is one of the best WQHD gaming monitors you could invest in, with a resolution of 1440p. While 4K is all the rage, WQHD 1440p monitors are incredible visually. I use the Razer Raptor 27, which looks amazing.

The BenQ EX3203R offers up to a 144Hz refresh rate. While this may not be necessary for the PS4, it’ll be nice when you (someday) upgrade to a next-gen console. This refresh rate helps you achieve the best out of your framerates for a smooth gameplay experience.

There’s also a 1800R curvature, and the height can be adjusted by up to 2.4 inches. On top of that, there’s flexible tilt control on this monitor. It’s also Display-HDR 400 VESA Certified, meaning you’ll get the most detailed display with better brightness & contrast.

If you want something a little more premium for your money, the BenQ EX3203R is a significant investment.

    3. MSI Optix G27C4 (Curved)

The MSI Optix G27C4 is one of the best 1080p gaming monitors under $500 that the market has to offer. I’ve owned several of these over the years, and I can say with absolute certainty that for anyone gaming on the PS4, it’s a heck of a display.

First of all, it’s a 27″ monitor, so you’re getting a lot of screens to play your game. If you’re like me, the curved display keeps everything within sight and needs to sit close up. And while it’s more than you’ll need on the PS4, the 165Hz refresh rate will come in handy for other activities or for when you eventually upgrade to a next-gen console.

What you get out of the MSI Optix G27C4 is speed and clarity. The high refresh rate & 1ms response time ensure that your game’s visuals move as fast as your console allows.

MSI uses a wide color gamut for bolder contrasts & colors for more realism and definition. The anti-flicker & less blue light technology help keep your eyes from straining, which is helpful for those who game in long sessions.

Lastly, this monitor supports VESA mounting. This particular type of mount gives the “floating screen” illusion. Great monitor for the price.

    4. ASUS ROG Strix XG27UQ

Do you want pure high-end 4K visuals with the best performance? The Asus ROG Strix XG27UQ is pure quality, but it comes at a cost. Like the other 4K monitor we mentioned, this is best for someone with a “Pro” model or the intention to upgrade to a next-gen console in the future. I assume that if this monitor is within your price range, you’re likely going to upgrade soon enough.

This VESA-certified HDR monitor is 27″, with a 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time. You’ll get a fast gameplay experience alongside those stunning visuals. The Asus ROG Strix XG27UQ supports Display Stream Compression, which allows you to stream ultra-high-definition video at high speeds without a quality drop.

The high dynamic range technology (with DisplayHDR 400 certification) offers a wide color gamut, so you’ll get even more detail in your colors with apparent differences across the RGB spectrum. This allows for even more detail in your games. And just like other Asus monitors, you’ll get their Eye Care Technology for less blue light and anti-flicker for reduced eye strain.

The Asus ROG Strix XG27UQ is the best monitor on this list and the best gaming monitor for PS4.

    5. Acer Nitro XV273

Last but not least is the Acer Nitro XV273, a favorite gaming monitor for PS4. This 27 inch 1080p resolution monitor is very high quality, with a maximum refresh rate of 240Hz. Yes, this is way higher than a PS4 could support, but because it’s built so well, you’ll likely be using it when you get your next-gen upgrade someday.

The Acer Nitro XV273 is a perfect widescreen monitor using an IPS LED display. The rapid refresh rate & response time ensure smooth gameplay no matter what device you’re playing on.

Visually, a lot is going for the Acer Nitro XV273. It’s one of the best 1080p monitors I’ve ever used and makes games look stunning. It has VESA Certified DisplayHDR 400, so there’s high brightness & contrast levels. The level of detail is imposing for this resolution.

Overall this is a great monitor. If you don’t care about having the highest resolution but want a high-quality monitor, this is an excellent choice as a gaming monitor for PS4.
