Finding the best QHD Monitor, or 1440p Monitor, for gaming can be a little tricky with all the options on the market. The massive cost differences between seemingly similar monitors can be confusing enough for most people. So the team at Gaming Notion has compiled a list of our favorites for different price ranges.

QHD is a term used to describe monitors with a resolution of 1440p. It’s an extremely high resolution between Full HD & 4K. It’s an excellent choice for those who want a high-quality image at a reasonable price. 4K gaming monitors tend to lack quality under $1000, so QHD can be a far better choice.

Our list contains numerous options of varying prices, so no matter what your budget is, you’ll find an excellent choice for your needs. So let’s get to it!

    Table of Contents

    • LG 27GL83A-B 27
    • Razer Raptor WQHD
    • Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor
    • Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQ
    • OMEN 27
    • 6. SAMSUNG Odyssey G7
    • 7. Gigabyte M34WQ (Ultrawide)
    • How Do We Make Our Decision?

    1. LG 27GL83A-B 27

The LG 27GL83A-B is one of the best choices if you want a balance between cost & quality. If you want something affordable without any risk of issues & pristine quality, then this monitor is well worth looking into.

The first point I’d like to make is the size. 27 inches is a nice size whether you’re gaming on a console or PC. It’s not too big that we have to worry about a loss of pixel density, so the picture looks high-quality and very well-detailed.

The refresh rate of 144Hz means that the monitor can display frame rates as high as 144FPS. Not only that, but the LG 27GL83A-B is compatible with both NVIDIA G-Sync & AMD FreeSync, preventing the framerates & refresh rates from getting out of sync, no matter which GPU you prefer! Pair all of this with their 1ms response time, and you can see you’re getting a rapidly responsive monitor.

Lastly, the IPS with an sRGB of 99% means better, bolder colors in your picture. On top of that, there’s an optional HDR setting & anti-dark modes. Overall, beautiful monitor for the price.

    2. Razer Raptor WQHD

The Razer Raptor 27 is my favorite high-end QHD Monitor, and I still use it to this day. The quality alone is good enough to buy one, but the lack of issues, RGB lights, and cable management add on to the amazing value Razer is offering.

    Razer Raptor QHD Monitor
    Razer Raptor QHD Monitor

For starters, it meets all of our expectations in terms of display quality. The borderless design makes the screen look even bigger, 144Hz refresh rate for smooth, crisp image & 95% DCI-P3 Color Gamut and HDR400 support, giving us a bold, rich and colorful image.

The weight of the Razer Raptor 27 & the fabric covering on the back gives an impression of high quality. One of my favorite features, however, is the well-protected cable management. There are 5 slots for cables (Power, HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.), with easy-to-use covering plates. Even more remarkable is that they include every cable type in their signature Razer green color!

The DisplayPort compatibility is a huge bonus that not all QHD monitors have. The performance yield from this connection method will make you never want to use HDMI again.

Lastly, we get RGB lights on the bottom of the monitor that can be customized from your PC. I use other Razer gear with my Razer Raptor 27 (like their RGB mousepad & mouse), and with the Razer Chroma, they all look the same!

Overall this is my favorite monitor. So many great features; it looks and feels top-notch with minimal issues. If you can find it within your budget, I’d highly recommend it.

    3. Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor

The Alienware 27 is one of the best high-end QHD Monitors on the market, offering massive refresh rates, and in turn, incredible framerates. Alienware is a fan favorite in the PC Gaming space, so it’s no surprise that this nifty-looking monitor meets our standards.

The 240Hz refresh rate is one of the primary reasons for the higher cost, but well worth it if your machine can perform that well! I love maximizing framerates, and a QHD Monitor like the Alienware 27 makes this all the more possible.

The VESA Display HDR 600 gives us high-end contrast ratios for the most authentic coloring with our display. This monitor offers us 98% DCI-P3 color coverage, which is incredibly high, providing an even greater color gamut!

Lastly, the Alienware 27 is NVIDIA G-SYNC certified, further enhancing their emphasis on speed & optimization with your gameplay. I love this choice, and it’s easily one of the best QHD monitors.

    4. Asus TUF Gaming VG27AQ

The Asus TUF VG27AQ is a beautiful & affordable QHD monitor with essential features. The cost does not reflect the quality we get out of this model.

As always, the first thing we want to touch upon is quality. With the Asus TUF VG27AQ, you’ll get a refresh rate of 165Hz, which is fantastic for those playing on high frame rates. Asus also offers Extreme Low Motion Blur Sync with a 1ms response time for rapid color updates.

One of my favorite features we get from their monitors is the ASUS Eye Care technology to minimize eye fatigue, which is beyond valuable if you work on computers and gaming. I’m always on computers for work or fun, so this feature is super helpful.

The Asus TUF VG27AQ is an excellent choice for someone looking for a great QHD monitor under $500. Give this one a look!

    5. OMEN 27

Next, the Omen 27 is one of my favorite mid-range QHD 1440p Monitors with a good balance of cost and quality. HP is a very well-known brand, and their Omen monitor is not to be overlooked!

    Omen 27 QHD Monitor
    Omen 27 QHD Monitor

The Omen 27 utilizes a TN panel for lower pixel latency and rapid response times. With a 165Hz refresh rate, we get the ability to play our games at great framerates, assuming our device can provide them. As you can tell by now, this is a massive factor in our decision making, along with ensuring these monitors have the least amount of issues, like this one!

They also offer ambient lighting with a soft glow on the base and stand to diffuse the bright light monitor, which will help with eye strain. The monitor is almost borderless, giving the significant effect of a large screen.

Overall this is a fantastic choice for a QHD monitor and well worth looking into if you weren’t satisfied with the above options!

    6. SAMSUNG Odyssey G7

The Samsung Odyssey G7 is another favorite WQHD gaming monitor of mine, offering a range of sizes and resolutions. For those looking to go home with the best QHD monitor, you can’t go wrong with the Odyssey G7. From performance to coloring, it checks off all the boxes.

     SAMSUNG Odyssey G7 QHD Monitor
    SAMSUNG Odyssey G7 QHD Monitor

The G7 offers a screen resolution of 2560/1440p. This is a very popular resolution that a lot of modern graphic cards can keep up with. What really stands out about the G7 is the max refresh rate of 240Hz. While this won’t be applicable for everyone, you’ll have the opportunity to yield up to 240 FPS, which is extremely rapid by today’s standards. To put it into perspective, the PS4 had an average FPS of 30, so you’re essentially getting 8x higher frame rates!

Also worth mentioning is the curved screen. Using curved monitors is a lot easier on your eyes, adding a sense of dimension to your video. It can also add to the immersive experience that we’re all desperately looking for.

What really stood out to me when testing the Odyssey G7 was the descriptive visuals and colors. When I’d be playing my game and heading deep into a dungeon, I felt the darkness. When I was coming up to the surface to embrace the warm sun, it shone through with every level of detail on the surrounding wilderness that I could ask for.

Overall, the G7 is a fantastic QHD monitor that you will be more than happy with. It hasn’t given us any issues, and we believe it won’t give you any either.

    7. Gigabyte M34WQ (Ultrawide)

The Gigabyte M34WQ is an ultrawide QHD 1440p monitor that offers stellar performance and visuals. Our team has recently been reviewing more products from Gigabyte, and the M34WQ is turning out to be quite the gaming monitor. While I don’t use ultrawide screens often, for those who do, you’ll be very pleased with this one.

     GIGABYTE M34WQ QHD 1440p Monitor
    GIGABYTE M34WQ QHD 1440p Monitor

The M34WQ offers 91% DCI-P3, which uses the common RGB space used for digital movie projection. This carries through in an obvious manner when you see how stunning the visuals are. As you can tell from the picture above, you’ll get a really wide variety of colors that add a sense of realism to everything you put up on your screen.

This 1440p monitor has a max refresh rate of 144Hz. This gives you a max FPS of 144, which is a great target to aim for. It’s right in the middle of what consoles can do & what the highest performers achieve. With the 1ms response time, the result is a fast-acting gaming monitor that keeps your screen up to date with everything going on in your game.

As an ultrawide monitor, you’re getting a total Aspect Ratio of 21:9, which is one of the selling points for ultrawide. Overall, the visual experience offered by Gigabyte is something you’ll have to see for yourself. We’ve enjoyed working with this monitor, and are confident you’ll be happy with it too.

How Do We Make Our Decision?

Our team at GamingNotion has been working with gaming monitors for a long time. Of course, we all grew up as gamers and have enjoyed using our shared interests to test and review different products. There’s a common problem that we’ve all experienced where we have one spec in mind, and when we try and find the right monitor for ourselves, the shopping apps don’t consider the other important features.

Instead of forcing our readers to spend hours on end trying to find the best QHD or 1440p monitor for you, we’ve gone ahead and done the research (and testing) for you. So again, how do we make our decision?

We’ve tested a large amount of 1440p monitors, but before we did that, we had to come up with a pool of potential monitors first. The primary features we look for are the refresh rate, performance, compatibilities, and price. Far too often do we see products that are overpriced, so we build a ratio model to determine what’s the best price for each performance level.

However, even with weeks of extensive testing, we can’t always attest to the future life of each monitor we work with. That’s where we take our research even deeper. We try and learn more about each customer’s experience working with these monitors so that we can confidently point you in the right direction. Everything we say about performance has been tested and confirmed by our team, but when it comes to the product life 6 months down the road, we do our best to ensure we’re putting you on the right path.

    Conclusion: Best QHD Monitors

By now, you should have an idea of which QHD Monitor, or 1440p monitor, is best for you. The options on this list have a wide variety of costs, but we’re confident our recommendations will serve you best in each price range. Some of the common issues we run into on the more affordable choices include dead pixels & screen bleeding.

Our goal is to find the best monitors for the best price with few issues. Our team has tested every monitor on this list so that you can feel confident with your next purchase.

Did you buy one of the recommended QHD Monitors on this list? Let us know in the comments below how it’s working out for you! If you have a QHD Monitor that you think is deserving to be on here, let us know, and we’ll check it out! We value your feedback and suggestions and consider them all. Thanks!
