If you’re looking for the best Ultrawide Monitors for gaming, you’ve come to the right place. The team at GamingNotion has compiled a list for you, taking all the most important factors into consideration, such as size, resolution, performance, and of course, price.

There’s no better feeling than that first time you got to game on an ultrawide monitor, and if you haven’t had the chance yet, then I’m really excited for you! The massive change of immersion is mouthwatering, adding a whole new dynamic to your gaming experience. Unfortunately, it’s not always that easy to find the best options.

Luckily for you, today’s list is written by gamers, for gamers. We’ll run you through our top favorites, and dive into all the juicy details.

Samsung Odyssey G9 | Best Large Screen

    Screen Size49″
    Resolution5120 x 1440 pixels
    Refresh Rate240Hz
    Response Time1ms
    Adaptive SyncG-Sync / FreeSync
    Technical Specs

The Samsung Odyssey G9 is the pillar of what we look for with ultrawide monitors for gaming. If you’re looking for the biggest & best option, you’ve found it. Offering stunning resolution, rapid-fire performance, and a whole lot of screen, The Odyssey G9 checks off all the boxes.

Right off the bat, we’re not just talking about a large ultrawide monitor here. You’re also getting a very pronounced 1000R curved display, so while the monitor may be large, it’s all within view. Believe me, when I tell you, the Odyssey G9 offers an immersive experience like no other.

The cutting-edge QLED technology is some of the best I’ve seen with a 1440p display. The image is so vibrant, from the deep black of space to the lushest jungles. The Samsung QLED creates more vivid colors with 125% more color space compared to sRGB. The level of detail becomes even more intense with the Samsung HDR1000.

And as great as all that might be, you’ll be relieved to find out the performance meets the same level of standards. At a 240Hz refresh rate, the G9 can keep up with really high FPS. And as we’d expect, there’s G-Sync & FreeSync technology to prevent studdering. On top of all that, the 1ms response time ensures your monitor is receiving information as fast as possible.

ASUS ROG Swift PG35VQ | Best For PC Gaming

    Screen Size35″
    Resolution3440 x 1440
    Refresh Rate200Hz
    Response Time2ms
    Adaptive SyncG-Sync
    Technical Specs

The Asus Rog Swift is a close second, as the image is just as stunning. If you’re looking for an ultrawide monitor that’s still quite large, but not G9 large, the Asus Rog will be your very best bet. With HDR1000 & Quantum Dot Technology, the video display is absolutely beautiful.

I’m a big fan of Asus monitors. They’re always rich in detail while heavy on performance. On top of it all, the style of the monitors looks really futuristic and fits into any gamer setup. The first thing I want to mention about the design is that really cool ROG spotlight coming out of the bottom. What’s unique about it is that it’s customizable!

They also include an RGB-Infused ROG logo on the back of the monitor, along with smart fan technology for maintaining proper thermals. And as we’d expect, the middle of the stand has easy-to-use cable management. On the side of the monitor, you’ll find some quick hotkeys that allow you to adjust gaming presets and on-screen settings.

Now let us talk performance. The first thing I’ll point out is the 2ms response time. As you may know, response time refers to the time it takes to shift from one color to another. A lot of the best monitors have a 1ms response, but let me tell you, the difference between 1ms and 2ms is mostly unnoticed. I’ve used many monitors in my time, and this Rog didn’t seem to perform any worse.

With a refresh rate of 200Hz, you’re getting the rapid performance that can keep up with high FPS. Asus uses G-Sync in this monitor to keep your monitor and GPU in sync as well. Overall, you’re looking at a high-performance, visually stunning, and beautifully designed monitor that’ll really stand out in your home.

Sceptre 35 | Best Affordable Option For Consoles

    4.5 Star Rating
    Screen Size35″
    Resolution3440×1440
    Refresh Rate100Hz
    Adaptive SyncAMD FreeSync
    Technical Specs

The Sceptre 35 is easily the best ultrawide monitor for console gamers. With strong visuals, high resolution, and maximum performance, you’ll be able to get a lot out of your console gaming experience.

    Sceptre 35 Ultrawide Monitor
    Sceptre 35 Ultrawide Monitor

The reason we have this listed as our top choice for consoles is due to the limitation of around 100 FPS, due to the refresh rate being at 100Hz. This is important to consider, as last-gen consoles can support up to 60FPS while the new-gen go as high as 120 FPS. While you may feel you’re going to lose out on 20 frames, the average benchmark from these new consoles show that 120FPS, while the maximum, is not as common as you’d think.

The Sceptre 35 has rapid response times, reducing any concerns of ghosting or blurring. You can count on having the best gameplay experience with limited issues, as we had perfect results playing on both consoles & PC. Sceptre also includes custom settings for both First-Person Shooters and Real-Time Strategy games, to further enhance your experience.

The borderless design ensures you have an immersive experience while gaming. The 1800R degree curved design takes it a step further, making you feel like you’re right inside the action! And most importantly, the coloring of this display looks stunning. They even have Blue Light Shift technology to reduce eye strain & fatigue.

    Resolution3440 X 1440
    Refresh Rate100Hz
    Adaptive SyncFreeSync
    Technical Specs

The BenQ EX3501R is another great & affordable ultrawide monitor for both PC & Console gamers. While it offers “average” frame rates, the quality of the display as well as the reliability and cost more than make up for it.

    BenQ EX3501R Ultrawide Monitor
    BenQ EX3501R Ultrawide Monitor

The BenQ EX3501R has 1800R curvature, wide viewing angle, 21: 9 aspect ratio with a high-quality feel to the physical build, utilizing ergonomically adjustable height and tilt. While the monitor may have a lower refresh rate, the picture quality is absolutely stunning. They utilize HDR technology for greater brightness & contrast levels, with clear, vivid images.

On top of that, they use AMD FreeSync to avoid choppy tearing and broken frames. BenQ has a patented Brightness Intelligence Plus technology with a proprietary sensor to adapt screen brightness and color temperature to your in-room lighting. You can count on having zero flicker and low blue light to avoid any eye strain or fatigue.

The BenQ EX3501R is compatible with HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB 3.1. They also have USB-C connectivity for faster USB transfers. It may not be anything special, but the performance is consistent and overall a very reliable and beautiful gaming monitor.

    Screen Size34″

    Refresh Rate165Hz
    Response Time1ms
    Adaptive SyncG-Sync / FreeSync
    Technical Specs

The Asus TUF ultrawide monitor is a great alternative to the Asus ROG, coming in at more than half the cost, with a strong resolution, good performance, and slick design. Admittedly, it may not be as flashy looking, but for those focused on performance and reliability, you’re in good hands.

    Asus TUF VG34VQL1B Ultrawide Monitor
    Asus TUF VG34VQL1B Ultrawide Monitor

The Asus TUF is a 1500R curved gaming monitor with ultra-fast 165Hz refresh rates for immersive gameplay. It benefits from the ASUS Extreme Low Motion Blur technology that offers a 1ms response time for eliminating ghosting. You’re going to get high frame rates with sharp gaming visuals. Their adaptive sync technology works on both NVIDIA & AMD graphics cards (confirmed), which will keep your gameplay from studdering.

The coloring from their High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology makes you forget how relatively affordable this monitor is. I was pretty impressed with how vibrant and sharp it was considering the specs. The Asus TUF is DisplayHDR 400 certified, as well.

Lastly, you get 1x DisplayPort, x2 HDMI & x2 USB Hub ports. PC gamers will benefit from the DisplayPort while console gamers can use the HDMI.

Overall I love Asus monitors across all price ranges. The Asus TUF VG34VQL1B carries on with its legacy.

    Resolution3440 x 1440
    Refresh Rate144Hz

The GigaByte M34WQ is a beautiful-looking monitor with great resolution, stunning picture, and powerful performance. While it may not be our top choice, it’s not a bad option for the price.

    GIGABYTE M34WQ Ultrawide Monitor
    GIGABYTE M34WQ Ultrawide Monitor

The GigaByte M34WQ is the epitome of IPS technology. I was really pleased with not only the rich, vibrant colors this monitor offers, but the level of variation across the color fields. They use studio-grade VESA Display HDR400, with 91% DCI-P3, which is a common RGB color space used in digital media production.

In terms of performance, you’re getting a 144Hz refresh rate, which allows you to pull a strong amount of frames per second. With a 1ms response time, we had no issues with delaying or flickering during gaming. Overall, you’ll find yourself with a smooth & immersive gameplay experience.

    Refresh Rate75Hz

LG monitors can be hit or miss for gaming, however, the LG 34WN750-B makes for a good ultrawide monitor for last-gen console gamers.

     LG 34WN750-B Ultrawide Monitor
    LG 34WN750-B Ultrawide Monitor

There are some pros and cons to getting out of the way with this monitor. I have used it before as a work computer, and I would use my old PS4 on it as well. While there are some performance limitations, such as maxing out at 75 FPS, the color visuals are really nice to look at.

LG uses an IPS Display, with HDR & sRGB 99%. You’ll be amazed at the color accuracy and variety, and see why graphic designers, game developers, and photographers use this LG monitor all the time. On my old console, I was really pleased with the visuals as well, and while it can’t keep up with my PC frame rates, I turned on FreeSync and still found the quality more than acceptable.

    Philips Brilliance 499P9H

    3 Star Rating
    Screen Size49″
    Resolution5120×1440
    Refresh Rate60Hz
    Adaptive SyncFreeSync / G-Sync
    Technical Specs

The Philips Brilliance 499P9H is definitely not our top choice for an ultrawide monitor, but it did perform well during the days of last-gen consoles. The display itself looks nice, however, it’s a bit overpriced.

Philips Brilliance 499P9H Ultrawide Gaming Monitor
Philips Brilliance 499P9H Ultrawide Gaming Monitor

The Philips Brilliance uses a VA panel display, which is a pretty good choice as it offers a strong color gamut, though the array of colors is not as wide as an IPS display. That being said, this monitor is DisplayHDR400 Certified, and after a lot of testing, I was pretty pleased with the level of color variety and vibrance.

The only big con with this ultrawide monitor is the 60Hz refresh rate. For this price point, I would’ve expected more. They do a great job with coloring and resolution, however, you’re limited on how high your frame rates can get. This is a good choice for console gamers still using last-gen products, but at this price, I’d go with one of the top options on this list.
